LoI allotted to telecom players to expedite spectrum allocation

Letter of Intent (LoI) has been issued to eight telecom operators taken part in the March auction by the department of telecom (DoT) to expedite the spectrum allocation.

The government has put around 470 MHz of spectrum of air waves in four bands (800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz and 2100 MHz) for sale in March and received around Rs 1.1 lakh crore from the sale. Of which, about 11 per cent of the air waves remained unsold.

The government got payment around Rs 32,300 crore from telecom players from the spectrum sale, well above the minimum outstanding due of Rs 28,835.34 crore.
