Fake noodles seized in Alwal

Ten days after seizing spurious milk with 'Heritage' label, Cyberabad Police raided another illegal manufacturing unit of fake noodles in Alwal area. The Special Operation Team (SOT) from Cyberabad conducted raids on duplicate noodles manufacturing unit in Alwal on Saturday.

As Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali noodles gained popularity of late in the city, several fake noodles packets are coming into the market with Patanjali label. The noodles packets are being sold in wholesale shops and small retail shops in Begum Bazaar and some other areas, SOT chief E Ramachandra Reddy told Metro India on Monday.

“This is the third fake noodles making factory raided so far in the city. The manufacturers do not have a valid licence from Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) or any other government authority. Moreover, the maida and flour used for making these noodles are unhygienic. They are using expired items at cheaper rate,” he said.

“This duplicate brand noodles are being sold in the market and at cheaper prices. Customers cannot identify them unless they examine the noodles packets closely,” he said.

K Srinivas Rao, Alwal Inspector raided the noodles manufacturing unit at Kanajiguda in Alwal and seized around 500 packets of noodles, along with the raw materials used for making them, from the suspects. The Cyberabad SOT registered a case against the manufacturers of counterfeit noodles, he added.
