Stating that his party had an inseparable relation with Jawaharnagar, Telangana BJP president G Kishan Reddy called up on the residents of the slum to launch a united struggle against the State government.

-Kishan Reddy said BJP shared a close relation with Jawaharnagar as party leaders like A Narendra, Bandaru Dattatreya and Baddam Bal Reddy supported their struggle for pucca houses

-The BJP leader called upon the people to question the Rangareddy District Collector why their lands were being taken away

The BJP president was speaking at a public meeting organised to support the residents of Jawaharnagar slum, which is likely to be razed. Kishan Reddy said BJP shared a close relation with Jawaharnagar as party leaders like A Narendra, Bandaru Dattatreya and Baddam Bal Reddy supported their struggle for pucca houses. “We haven’t come here for politics. We came here for the sake of your houses. You have to come out of your houses and launch a united fight. If you don’t come out, it will not serve any purpose. Come out in unity. We will be behind you,” said Kishan Reddy.

The BJP leader pointed out that a similar attempt was made by the earlier government in 1993, but with the efforts of BJP leaders it was avoided. “The Chief Minister wants to bulldoze your houses and give this land to industrialists for making it an industrial estate. The CM is roaming around in helicopters to identify where the huts are, so that they can be given to industrialists. Forget about the two-bedroom houses, he is depriving even the huts and houses to residents,” said Kishan Reddy.

The BJP leader called upon the people to be part of the ‘Chalo Collectorate’ event scheduled for Monday and asked them to question the Rangareddy District Collector why their lands were being taken away. He said that the Jawaharnagar land was not the jagir of government as the land belonged to ‘sainiks’. Even High Court gave judgment that the land belongs to sainiks, but the State government is approaching the Supreme Court, he added. “KCR calls himself ‘jagamondi’ (adamant). You (people of Jawaharnagar) should show him you are more adamant than him,” said Kishan Reddy.

BJLP leader K Laxman alleged that KCR had said that people were suppressed during the united Andhra Pradesh rule and justice would be done only after the formation of separate State. People supported the agitation leaving out even their daily wage, but now the government is snatching away their houses, he lamented. He said people do not want the Telangana government to get them displaced from their houses. The government should have given pattas to these poor as per GO 58, but there seems to be a conspiracy to take over the houses of poor, he alleged.

Earlier, CPI Telangana secretary Chada Venkat Reddy lambasted the TRS government for resorting to feudal governance by razing down shelters and huts of the deprived classes. He sought to know whether the demolition of huts would tantamountto achieving Bangaru Telangana. “Demolition of huts reflects the feudal mentality of CM KCR,” he alleged. He visited Jawaharnagar along with leaders Palla Venkat Reddy, K Lakshma Reddy, Govardhan, Bala Mallesh and K Ravi to extend support to the poor and deprived families, who lost their temporary shelters during the eviction drive by officials.
