'Arogya Lakshmi' to protect health of mother and child

The Arogya Lakshmi programme is aimed at ensuring a healthy society by protecting the health of mother and child, Ajmer Rekha, chairperson of Legislative Committee on Women and Child Welfare, has said. She was the chief guest at Arogya Lakshmi programme at Kadipi Konda Ramnagar Government High School on Tuesday. On the occasion, Rekha called upon the ICDS personnel to take care of pregnant women and provide necessary medicines and nutritious food as prescribed.

Expressing satisfaction with the functioning of Anganwadi centres in the district, she advised Anganwadi workers to serve with commitment and ensure that the benefits reach the beneficiaries. She promised to take the problems of Anganwadi workers to the notice of the government. Committee members Kova Lakshmi, Ch Ramachandra Reddy, Puranam Sateesh Kumar, U Srinivasa Reddy also participated in the programme.

MLC and committee member Srinivasa Reddy announced Rs 5 lakh from his constituency development fund for the development of Anganwadi centres. District Collector Vakati Karuna held an interactive session with Arogya Lakshmi beneficiaries in the presence of the committee members and explained Women and Child Welfare schemes being implemented in the district under ICDS. The committee members presented new clothes to the beneficiaries and served nutritious food.
