CPI Telangana State Council has demanded that Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya help lift cases filed by the Railways during Telangana movement. CPI State secretary Chada Venkat Reddy addressed a letter to the Union Minister in this regard on Sunday. In the letter, Chada recalled that the leaders from all political parties, employees, people’s organisations and others played a key role in Telangana movement responding to a call given by Telangana Political JAC.

Parties like TRS, CPI, BJP and CPI(ML) New Democracy participated in programmes like ‘Million March’ and ‘Sagara Haram’. He recalled that the police had arrested the leaders and took them to the Osmania University Police Station. He said all political leaders participated in ‘rail roko’ programme. The South Central Railway stopped services on rail roko day and the Railway Police filed cases against several political leaders and agitators.

Chada pointed out that cases were filed against the present ministers, MPs, MLAs and other prominent political leaders. As the Railways has not withdrawn the cases though Telangana State came into being two-and-a-half years ago, hundreds of T protagonists were doings rounds around the courts.
