Taking people's aspirations and probably also his own numerological sentiments into consideration, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is understood to have capped the total number of districts at 33, after adding six more districts to the 27 previously proposed.

Speculations are rife that KCR also believes in numerology like any other politicians and that his lucky number is 6. So, if the total districts are made 33; from the numerological standpoint it will be total (3+3) six

Speculations are rife that KCR also believes in numerology like any other politicians and that his lucky number is 6. So, if the total districts are made 33; from the numerological standpoint it will be total (3+3) six. However, the TRS leaders who had an interaction with the Chief Minister on the reorganisation of new districts on the second day disclosed that many more districts were on the anvil. At present, KCR is in favour of forming four more new districts -- Gadwal, Siricilla, Janagaon and Asifabad in Adilabad district.

If two more new districts are created, the total number of districts would touch his lucky number 33. The Chief Minister, who met the TRS leaders and officials on Sunday and Monday, gave his consent for the creation of three more new districts- Sircilla (to be carved out from Karimnagar), Jangaon (Warangal) and Gadwal (Mahbubnagar). With the addition of these three districts, the number of new districts will increase to 20 and the overall districts in the State will be 30.

Warangal will be divided into 5 districts, Karimnagar and Mahbubnagar will be divided into 4 districts each, while Medak, Rangareddy, Nalgonda, Adilabad will now be trifurcated. Nizamabad and Khammam will be divided into two districts each. Hyderabad will be a single district. The Chief Minister directed the officials to include nearby mandals in the newly created districts for administrative ease. He said that the population of a district should not cross 30 lakh.

He reiterated that the new districts were being created for administrative ease and the exercise was not aimed at political benefits. As per people’s aspirations, Janagaon and Siricilla will be made new districts and it is likely that Gadwal will also be formed into a district. TRS MP B Vinod Kumar, who attended a crucial review meeting of Chief Minister at the camp office on the second day here, later told reporters that K Chandrasekhar Rao gave the green light to make Siricilla and Janagaon as new districts.

KCR discussed at length with the leaders on making Siricilla, Janagaon and also Gadwal as new districts, he said. He said that the Chief Minister had opined that new districts would be made only for the cause of the people and not for the leaders. Sircilla would have 13 mandals, he said. MLA Ch Ramesh said that KCR is in favour of new districts for the welfare of the people. The new districts are being formed as per people’s aspirations. KCR is considering every demand of the public and taking positive decisions, he said.

Don’t change Vikarabad name

MIM President Asaduddin Owaisi today appealed to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to refrain from a proposal of changing the name of Vikarabad district. In a letter addressed to the chief minister Owaisi urged the former to retain the name of Vikarabad. He also asked to withdraw a proposal to rechristen Vikarabad with any other name of Ananthagiri.
