V Varun and Srithan Saypuri won titles in the open and juniors categories respectively in t he 114th Brilliant Trophy Open Chess tourney at the Brilliant Grammar School on Sunday. Varun scored 5.5 points out of six rounds to take the top honours while S Khan and S Shiva scored five points each to finish second and third respectively. In the junior’s category, Srithan scored maintained a clean slate to lift the title. P Asrithtram scored five points to finish second. Shakeel Ahmad was rewarded with the best veteran award while D Sneha was rewarded with the best woman award.
